Todays blog post isn't going to be your typical "fashion post" that you would normally expect from me. Today I am going to be talking about something a little bit more personal, but something I've wanted to share with my followers for some time now.
For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in getting lip fillers. When I was in high school, my lips were always one of my biggest insecurities. I knew this was something I always wanted to do, but just wasn't sure when the right time was to do it.
This was during the time of the “Kylie Jenner Lip Filler” drama, where I found comfort in knowing that it’s okay to be different and enhance something I’m insecure about. With that being said, I do not condone anyone getting lip fillers to follow a trend or because someone they look up to has them. I’m the type of person who has absolutely no issue with enhancing your physical appearance if it is going to make you feel more confident! It’s your body and you can do absolutely whatever you want with it. This is a huge decision and it is something I have put years of research into.
Almost a year ago I made the decision that I was going to get lip fillers. I was extremely nervous and scared but knew it was something I wanted to do. I went to a local Cosmetics Centre here in Saskatoon and asked for the most natural look possible. After the procedure, I was extremely swollen and was questioning what I had done to my face. I’ve never done anything like this before so I was just in shock over the swelling and bruising. Constant thoughts were running through my mind like, is it super noticeable, will people judge me for this, will my lips be swollen forever? The answer to all of these questions is no. The swelling and bruising went down a few days later and I was very pleased with the results. Being 20 years old at the time, I was unaware of how fast my body would metabolize the product. (they don’t tell you this) Within a month, I’d noticed that my perfect "pout" was starting to dissolve quicker than expected. I made two follow up appointments to keep adding in more product but my body was metabolizing the fillers just as quick.
Recently I connected with Midwest Laser Centre in Saskatoon, in hopes that my pout would stay longer than two months. I kept feeling dissatisfied with my lips and wanted a change. I met Dr. Stewart of Midwest Laser Centre and she changed all of the questions and concerns I had with my lips. She took the time to understand the look I wanted, what I liked and didn’t like and then got straight to work! She suggested a product called Teosyal RHA 2, a filler that doesn’t metabolize as quick and will last longer. I told her that I had previously had Juvederm fillers; which breakdown and metabolize in the body quicker.
The process was painless as Dr. Stewart applied numbing cream 45 minutes before my fillers as I would highly recommend having the numbing cream applied, it’s a dream! I had 1 syringe of Teosyal RHA 2 fillers injected into my top and bottom lip. She used different techniques to correct some asymmetry I had and she gave me the perfect pout.
I’ve received so many questions over the past few months from followers asking about my lips so I wanted to come clean and be as transparent to my readers as possible. The work that Midwest Laser does is amazing and I would 100% recommend them to anyone that is in the Saskatoon area looking for cosmetics treatments.
